INTRODUCTION
For more than a year of providing quality education, Genius IT Foundation (GITF) whose topmost priority is impacting the youth with Leadership, Entrepreneurial and Digital Skills with its Youth Development Program through the training arm Genius IT Brainery, is continuously soaring to greater heights. As the foundation celebrates its maiden graduation and recognition program, GITF is determined in producing quality youths.
GITF finally ended the year with its maiden graduation exercise themed “Developing the Youth Today, Securing the Future Tomorrow” with about 50 persons in attendance out of 86 youth beneficiaries and graduates in 2020.
ACTIVITIES
The ceremony started with the arrival of guests and the settling of graduates.
Desmond Kitsi, the founder, who also mastered the ceremony opened the program through the opening remarks and purpose of gathering after the singing of the National Anthem and prayer led by Miss Precious Akpah, a graduate, and Reverend Fanuel Hotsonyame, a guest respectively.
Guests were introduced and video testimonies from a few of the sessions played. Some graduates excitedly expressed their profound gratitude and shared their wonderful experiences before during and after their various sessions of studying with Genius IT Brainery.
To continue, the Executive Director of Genius IT Foundation (Mr. Desmond Kitsi) also delivered a speech on the motive and main aim of the foundation, making predictions as to its success and having a revolutionary effect on the youth. He also encouraged the graduates to help in making this great vision a success.
In the founder’s speech, he emphasized the need to empower the youth of today with the ability to dream and envision a future that is yet to exist. He stated that the future of a country is in danger if its youths are not defining any vision for their lives. He also made it clear the need to equip young people with adequate leadership, entrepreneurship, and digital skills which are needed for any young person to strive and succeed in today’s contemporary and ever-changing world. According to his definition of youth, he defined the word youth is “a future under construction” because if a future is not in focus, then today will become unguided.
He made some profound analyses stating that the quality of a nation is a result of the quality of the people living in it. Therefore, if education is not made quality with a focus on a future, then quality cannot be achieved and many graduates will not have what it takes to face the challenges that will emerge in the future.
He concluded by admonishing the youth to dream and dream well, taking responsibility to sacrifice for a future and generations yet unborn. This is the way forward to growing a good future.
Furthermore, the chairman, Mr. Charles Kwesi Gomenu, the Municipal Director of the National Youth Authority (Volta Region), showcased his astonishment at the massive influx of the youth and gearing toward the attainment of societal and technological change. He also admonished the fellows to keep up with the hard work and not relent in developing and adding value to themselves. He also pledged to support the Foundation in numerous ways.
Moreover, Rev. Fanuel Hotsonyame who is the Programs Director of the National Youth Authority, and Mr. Emmanuel Tettey, the vice of Genius IT Foundation also added their voices in urging the fellows to support this gargantuan agenda. Certificates were awarded to the fellows shortly after the speeches.
In continuation, a guest in the person of Mr. Faisel Abdul-Iddrisu who is the Speaker of the Ho Municipal Youth Parliament and a seasoned journalist also gave his congratulatory speech. He through sharing his personal life experiences admonished the graduates to believe in themselves as good enough and with the right attitude get whatever they want and be able to get to wherever they wish.
LAUNCHING OF THE GITB EMPOWERED YOUTH NETWORK (EYONET)
The Empowered Youth Network (EYONET) an initiative of GITF was duly and officially launched shortly before closure. The Network is to foster a new and improved sense of community and need to work together. The Founder, Desmond Kitsi stated clearly the need for young people to join, develop and grow networks. He cannot overemphasize the need to work with teams and have a group of people to always rely on.
The network will serve as a platform for Alumni of Genius IT Brainery to continue learning, share experiences, and educate more people on very vital issues and also serve as a platform to help fellows enjoy special privileges.
