GITF & CSOs PLATFORM COLLABORATION ON CHILDREN SDGs EDUCATION

Genius IT Foundation in line with its agenda to bridge the Digital Divide by making Digital and STEM skills accessible to children across the West African Sub-Region has initiated the Junior Brains University Program.

This program is introducing children in the Volta Region to Early-Age Digital/STEM Skills in preparing them for future work. There will be jobs that will be created in the future that is yet to be discovered just as there are jobs now that were not in sight some years ago.

The foundation is working hard towards contributing to the sustainable development goals (SDGs), focusing on Goals 1, 4, 5, and 8.

With the introduction of the Junior Brains University Digital/STEM program for the children in the Volta Region, the Civil Society Organizations Platform on the Sustainable Development Goals; Ghana,  Volta Region Chapter collaborated in providing preliminary knowledge to the children on the SDGs.

The training session was a very interactive one, with the 17 Goals broken down into understandable modules for the children to understand.

The aim of this education was for the children to early enough learn about the SDGs and also identify their roles in helping achieve them.

Miss Princess Lovia Tetteh opened the conversation with an introduction to what the terms Sustainable, Development, and Goals mean and how they come together to help promote a safe and healthy world for us to live in.

Miss Princess Lovia Tetteh expressed her excitement about how the kids were able to understand the concepts, asked thoughtful questions, and made the entire training very exciting.

Their contributions were intriguing, and their insight on the relevance of the goals and how they can also help in achieving them was eye-opening.

Mr. Basil Gadawusu who was also part of the team from the CSO’s platform gave the concluding remarks on the training as the training ended. From this engagement, we have discovered that the minds and contributions of children to achieving these SDGs are very much needed in ensuring the SDGs are inclusive of all its stakeholders and no one is left behind.
