In a significant step towards advancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and digital skills development in the Volta Region of Ghana, the Genius IT Foundation, led by the accomplished Founder and Executive Director, Mr. Desmond Kitsi, paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Ho Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service, Esther Adzo Yeboah-Adzimah (Ed.D).
The meeting, which took place on September 25, 2023, was marked by a warm mutual welcome session as the executives of the Genius IT Foundation seized the opportunity to provide an insightful overview of their organization’s establishment, purpose, and objectives. Foremost among these objectives is the Foundation’s commitment to championing STEM education in the Volta Region, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, is afforded equal opportunities to learn and acquire the skills crucial for the future.
Moreover, the Genius IT Foundation has instituted a range of initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education outcomes not only in the Volta Region but also throughout Ghana.
In response to the Foundation’s presentation, GES Municipal Education Director Esther Adzo Yeboah-Adzimah (Ed.D) and her dedicated team expressed their appreciation for the visit and provided innovative suggestions on how the Genius IT Foundation could leverage and expand its initiatives. She underscored the importance of the government’s initiatives to promote STEM and digital skills education in the country, emphasizing that such efforts align with the Minister of Education, Yaw Osei Adutwum’s commitment to advancing educational initiatives in Ghana.
Dr. (Mrs) Esther Adzo-Adzimah Yeboah acknowledged the Foundation’s composition of young and dynamic individuals who, in the face of high unemployment rates, had come together to launch this impactful initiative. She commended their efforts and urged them to continue transforming the lives of young people, adults, and especially children with special needs in deprived communities within the Volta Region.
Recognizing the challenge of limited internet access in many areas of the region, the director expressed concerns regarding the foundation’s strategy for mitigating this issue while maximizing the benefits of technology for education.
Both Esther Adzo Yeboah-Adzimah (Ed.D). and her dedicated team pledged their unwavering support for the Genius IT Foundation and expressed their determination to provide the necessary assistance within the capacity of the Ghana Education Service.
